WRONG! Everyone has a personal brand whether you know it or not, and being an introvert can be a very powerful tool in your branding toolkit. Here are some suggestions for introverts:
Build your brand in bits and bytes. Use social media to your advantage. You can control where, when and how often you communicate using the platforms you enjoy. You can also do it from the peace and quiet of your lounge!
Have a trusted extrovert in your corner; someone who gets you but who also nudges you out of your comfort zone from time-to time.
Rather than telling people what you’re passionate about work to brand your environment. Do this by surrounding yourself with stuff that communicates who you are and what you are about. Display your certificates and acknowledgements.
Regularly share your knowledge, wisdom and point-of-view and express gratitude whenever appropriate. This is a great way to build generosity as a key element of your personal brand. Get in the habit of acknowledging others in meetings and supporting them when they need it.
Become a connector – one person at a time. Make a commitment to talk to one new person each week.
I am an introvert, so time alone to recharge is very important to me. But I also know that I must build my brand while being true to myself. What steps can you take to work on your personal brand today?
